Happy Thanksgiving!!

I'm still working on my very long post about last weekend's experience babysitting a 2 year old for 2 days. I can't wait to share it all with you, but it's not only been a tough post to write, I'm also having a hard time keeping it short. ;) So alas, it'll have to wait a bit, there are just more important things right now... like with Thanksgiving tomorrow!

This is the first year in two years that we haven't traveled over Thanksgiving. And I must admit, I'm really happy about that! I think we needed a traveling break, and since we've both been fighting colds, it's even better! Plus getting to shop our Chicago area stores on Black Friday also makes us uber happy. :)

Whoop whoop!

Tomorrow we'll be sleeping in a little, I'll be doing some baking & cooking, watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade {I flip between NYC & Chicago's}, and then we'll head over to Tim's brother's house for the big feast with part of his family as well as his sister-in-law's family. I'm really stoked! Then we'll likely wrap up the day by watching either Elf or Home Alone, and looking at all the Black Friday ads.

In the meantime, I wanted to leave you with a post from my favorite inspirational blog, (in)courage, in preparation for this wonderful holiday:

While I want to feed tummies, more importantly, my desire is to feed souls.
Will you join me in re-evaluating the check list and prioritizing the essentials for your weekend?
I’ve scribbled my new “To-Do” List.
Feed Gratitude. As I nurture this quality, joy thrives.
Feed Flexibility. Our best laid plans may not happen. Guests will be late. Food may get cold, but in the scheme of things, it’s nothing.
Feed Patience. (Lots of Patience)  A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel. Proverbs 15:18Feed Laughter. There’s nothing better than cultivating an atmosphere of deep belly laughing after a satisfying meal.
Feed Contentment. With all the Black Friday Sales, it’s difficult to remember the balance of “need vs. want.”
Feed Compassion. Even though Old Aunt Sue has shared the same story for the fifteenth time, make her feel as if it is the first.
Feed Encouragement.
We’re fragile. A blessed word makes hearts soar.
Feed Forgiveness.
This is the year. Lay it at His feet. Let our Lord carry the burden. Extend forgiveness. Experience freedom.

As I savor the moments of family time this weekend, my “To Do” List reminds me:  Feed Them.

May you & your family find Thanksgiving to be a blessing, and may you spend it focusing on all of the positives in your life... no matter what they are. Big or small, spend some time tomorrow just being grateful.

I am very thankful for all of you - my blogging friends!!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I loved that post on (in) courage as well. Such a great reminder of where our focus should be. :)

I'm sorry to hear that Tim was sick and you had to stay home but I hope you are both feeling much better!

Did you get to brave the crazy lines and do any Black Friday shopping? My parents went in the early evening when the crowds had thinned out and they were able to get a couple of good deals.

We had a good Thanksgiving too. My sister beat me at both games of Scrabble and we watched the Packers game (well Steve did and my dad pretended to follow along).

I hope you and your family are doing well. Sorry I haven't been in touch. Enjoy the rest of your Thanksgiving weekend! I am very thankful for you and your friendship through the years :)

Your day sounds pretty wonderful to me. I hope that it was! I watched Elf too! I also watched Jingle all the Way and last night I watched The Santa Clause. :)
