What do you do when you're bored with life and your decor?
You could follow after my neighbor and paint your garage door bright green.
Just because.

Fabulous Friday - Sunny Skies
there's something about driving home to see your family
to spend time with them after the loss of a relative
that makes sunny skies
and a long drive by yourself
all the more precious
and after 6 days in a row of rain and gloom
looking at a sunny picture like this
brings me oodles of happiness
happy fabulous friday!

Fabulous Friday
thankful for amazing coworkers
blessing our president's wife with a luncheon/shower in her honor
sweet time with terrific women of God
joy & elation & love shared for our company & its purposes in spreading the gospel around the world
laughter with many coworkers across oodles of food
wonderful, precious time alone with buddy Parker while his parents get a chance to go out
quiet time with hubster while we sit outside our normal, in someone else's house where we are comfortable, and get to hang out - it's like 2 couples getting to have a date all in 1! love it.
after conversation comes Tim catching up with his 'quota' for playing Angry Birds for the day on his phone
while i do this:
absolutely blown away by this book. definitely highly recommended! it's the life-altering, longing-to-have-a-deeper-faith-than-I-ever-thought-possible kind of book!
overall, a joyful, tremendous, blessed, fabulous friday!!!

Fabulous Friday
My coworkers love Skittles.
They love when I fill my candy dish with them.
But apparently they only like certain colors.
This is how my candy dish looked this morning when I walked in the door:
Anyone want to take some green or yellow ones off my hands?

Fabulous Friday
Tim's birthday present from his brother Paul and his mom is for Paul {who is a general contractor} to remodel much of our basement room for us. This is a room that flooded and gave us a bit of a mildew/mold issue this past summer.
Not long after we moved things out of there, Tim tore out all of the wood paneling and the drop ceiling that came with it {it was kind of attached to the paneling}. It's sat empty since then as we haven't had much of a chance to do anything with it {and just felt too overwhelmed to know what to do with it}. Paul called me last week and offered this wonderful gift and I've been working with him since then to have him sneak in and work on it while we've been at work. He's been working away the past two days, and mostly just redid the electrical and put in lights {it was horrible wiring, not grounded outlets, a switch at the top of the stairs that controlled the lights and the outlets...so weird...so it took lots of time and rerouting wires, etc}. And all of that work has just been such a huge blessing already!!! Just having the light switch as you walk into the room instead of at the top of the stairs is amazing. And to have 6 canned lights instead of one little bulb is super. {And the "whoaaa!" and look on Tim's face Wed night when he came home was. absolutely. priceless.}
There's much more to be done, but it's coming along quite nicely, and we are so thrilled! What a great gift!

Fabulous Friday
My dad arrived early this morning for a weekend of hanging out with us. He'd been on vacation for 3 weeks so I took today off to hang out with him.
The day ended up being reverse from what we'd originally planned, but we were just winging it and allowing the day to happen. It turned out really great! We had a nice, relaxing breakfast. Then I drove him around parts of our city he'd never seen before.
We walked around the riverfront and dam. It was really great, a bit chilly yet at 10 a.m. but it was also really gorgeous and sunny {something in the Midwest you get really thankful for after days of dreariness in the winter months!}.
We went shopping at our favorites: Cabela's & L. L. Bean.
I took him to a fancy chocolate specialty store & lounge where we relaxed and caught up on life.
Mmm...red velvet hot chocolate and a big, fancy strawberry dipped in some of the best chocolate you've ever tasted!
I showed him around our offices and introduced him to some of my dearest friends. He was really enthusiastic about it all. I love that he's so excited about my life and my friendships with my coworkers, who truly are like family to me. It was really unfortunate that it landed right at the end of the work day so we felt hurried as we didn't want to distract people from wrapping up their work for the day, but all in all, I think it went well and we had some good conversations. I get my outgoing, friendly, sarcastic, talkability from my dad so I know we could have been there much of the afternoon if we'd been there longer!
Then I introduced him to Parker and his parents--my dear friends Monica & Brian. Parker had apparently been pretty fussy so it was really neat for him to be so excited to see me and so clingy. :) I love that little guy. Sad I forgot to bring my phone in... no pics of that one!
We went out for dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen, went to Borders where I got some good books, went to R.E.I. {never been there before - sweet place!}, and swung by Bed, Bath, & Beyond where I got us a new air purifier so we can breathe better while we sleep.
We got home, caught up with my sick :( husband {his boss sent him home shortly after lunch since he wasn't feeling well}, and introduced dad to the awesomeness that is the TV Show "Blue Bloods". Now dad's asleep and I'd better head there too so I can get up early and fix him a fancy breakfast! :)
It was a great day despite now being exhausted. I think I paced pretty well and am not doing too bad physically this evening. We'll see how I feel tomorrow!
Hope you all had a great Friday!

Fabulous Friday
Spring is so close, yet so far away. Last week we had some 50 degree temps and now it's been Winter-y again. This is when it gets hard. Really hard to hunker down and keep pressing on through the Winter. So in the spirit of looking forward to Spring and hoping it will come quickly, last weekend I got my craft on. I put together my Spring flower pot decorations. Every day, they cheer me up and remind me that Spring is just around the corner.
Come on Spring!
Happy Fabulous Friday!!

Fabulous Friday
I have so many things on my heart. So many things I want to share. But I'm exhausted, working overtime, stressing out about a few things, and depleted.
We are traveling this weekend to go to my hometown to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday with him. It's going to be a good weekend, I just have oodles of things to finish up first.
Great news though, my sister-in-law Kandy had her baby yesterday, yayyy! In Tim's gigantic family, this makes #24 of our nieces & nephews. Combined that's 26 for both families, with one on the way. My brother's wife is pregnant with their third, hooray!! I'm soooo excited for them!
Yesterday we had a farewell lunch for a beloved coworker who flew out last night to serve in Europe as a missionary. We are thrilled for her and this new adventure God has placed her on. But as always, it's hard to say goodbye to someone you like so much, and especially hard when you aren't sure you'll ever see that person again! So without further ado, a couple pictures from our lunch.

Fabulous Friday
Do you ever miss someone so much your heart literally aches and you're not sure you can catch your breath?
Do you ever miss someone so much you hurt?
Do you ever miss someone but you're not totally sure why?
Right now, I really miss this guy.
Brother dearest.
I don't know if it's because of all I've been dealing with or what. But I need time with my brother. I may not get much of it this weekend as he is hosting his in-law family, but I'm excited to just even be able to see him and to hear him preach on Sunday.
I am so proud of him. I admire & respect him more than anyone I know.
There's something very special about him. Meet him and you're not the same.
I'm blessed to call this guy my brother.
And T -24 hours (ish) til I see him!!!!! Yay!

Fabulous Friday
Last Wednesday, my dear friend & coworker Annemarie and I spontaneously went to Starbucks after work to chill out a bit. It was super fun, we enjoyed our smoothies {I've told you I hate coffee, right?}, and had a wonderful talk. It was quick as I needed to get to Bible study, but I was so thankful for the short time to get to be with her. Love me spontaneous, meaningful times with special friends!
Happy Friday!

Fabulous Friday
By the end of tonight, I get to see some of my favorite people. :)
Please say a prayer for me... I'm driving 6 hours by myself for the first time ever. For various reasons, we felt it best for Tim not to go on this trip. But my Fibro is flaring up, horrible pain from last night's workout, I'm already super exhausted from two weeks of late nights, and I'm nervous about the drive. I'm sure it'll be okay, I'm kind of excited to have some me & God time, and this is a huge step for me so I'm excited to just trust God all the way and see what happens! I appreciate the prayers! :)

Fabulous Friday
I have the privilege of being blessed with a phenomenal church, and ladies there who I love dearly. For 3 weeks every summer, we meet on Wednesday nights for something we call 'Sister Summit'. It's a wonderful, delightful time of worship, learning from God's Word together, sharing, laughing, eating, praying, and sometimes crying. This summer is the first time I've really had the energy and stamina to endure these meetings, and I've been blessed abundantly!!! I love all my friends, but there's just always something special happening in this place, and I'm so thankful God called me to be a part of it!
Happy Friday!
