Fun with Dad

Great weekend. Great time with my dad. Woke up Sat morning in a ton of pain. Hard workout Friday night with changed exercises that left my muscles very fatigued. Dad arrived lunch Saturday, took him out for pizza. Yummmmmy pizza. Tim left to go take care of something at his mom's. I gave Dad a tour of my gym and introduced him to my trainer. Then we went to L.L. Bean, one of my family's favorite stores ever. Love it!! Shopped for quite a while. Seemingly stared at bags for dad's laptop for forever. Then at the tail end of our time there (when we were both nearly popping out our eyes from looking at bags), I just randomly picked one up and said "hm, this looks like it might make a good diaper bag." My dad's face turned very serious and he whispered just loudly enough for me to hear:

"I'm actually not in diapers yet... I'm not sure if you knew that."

I. about. died. laughing. Definitely one for the memory books! Oh man, if you could just see his face, it was so serious and so funny and so not what I meant when I referred to it as a diaper bag, that it just really had us both in stitches for several minutes. Dad thought he might have to find me some oxygen, I was laughing so hard.

Then when we couldn't find a bag we found him some clothes. I always like helping dad find clothes since he's not really all that great at doing it on his own. ;) Then it was off to another nearby favorite, Cabela's. Everytime I walk in the door, I feel at home at these two stores since they are both well-loved by my brother, dad, and mom. I love making my brother jealous with this! He always makes fun of me for living in Chicagoland, so the least I can do is get back at him with the good things about living here, like access to these two stores! Heehee.

Here's dad inside Cabela's, just a quick shot from my phone to make bro jealous :)

Back home. Got dad hooked on the show Chuck. He now totally loves it too. Thank you, season 1 DVDs! Ate pot roast that had been in the crock pot all day. More Chuck. Some Wii and Wii Fit. Bed. Church this morning. Absolutely amazing and incredible service. {If you haven't checked out Churches Helping Churches, please do so. There are several videos on the Media section that you should watch. Please support prayerfully or financially if you can.} It was powerful and intense and wonderful. Dad even enjoyed it/was touched from what I could tell, which is fairly rare, so I think that says a lot. It was also an emotional service with our pastor getting choked up himself several times. I am increasingly thankful and amazed at how much I just love more and more how incredible our church services are. God is working in wondrous ways there and I'm so thankful to be a part of it!!

After church we headed straight home and I started whipping up some of my mom's special sausage hash...one of my dad's favorites. We watched another Chuck episode, ate, talked and laughed, and saw dad off around 1 pm. The rest of the day was Tim watching football, me a chick flick, doing housework, relaxing, and prepping for the week.

I hope you all had a really wonderful weekend as well! :)

Your dad has a great sense of humor. I am glad you had a good time together.

What type of store is Cabela's? Is it a clothing store?

Hi Christina!!! :) Cabela's is a "world outfitter". It's similar to a Bass Pro Shops if you've been in there. Gigantica, mega store. Lots of clothes. Lots of goodies. Equipment, clothing, and stuff for all the outdoorsy things you need: bikes, canoes, hunting, fishing, camping, etc. Games to play. A restaurant. A general store. An aquarium. Lots of fake animals that look like the real thing. A.m.a.z.i.n.g. Love that store!
