Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease

Ugh.

I hate those words.

Hand-foot-mouth disease was in our home for over a week. It's now finally said goodbye and it couldn't have come sooner.

Just before I was about to lose my mind.

Elijah had one of the worst bouts of it, from what we hear. It's been spreading around our area like wildfire through daycares and schools, and yes it hit his daycare center. Somehow he was the only infant who got it though, of course. And ohhhh man, he got it everywhere. The worst was inside his mouth, but he had a bunch of sores all over his body, except for his tummy and back.

His fever spiked to 103.8 at one point. He started to come down with this when we were traveling. He threw up in the car about 30 minutes from home after a few hours on the road. He also got diarrhea. He just had all kinds of issues!

He finally returned to daycare this past Tuesday, and finally returned to church this weekend too. We are SO relieved!

So, so, so hard. So sad. It broke my heart to see him in so much pain those first couple of days. Gratefully after his fever broke, he started getting better, but until his sores were really gone, he couldn't do much.

We are glad God brought us through all of that intact. Yet another reminder of his sovereignty, the frailty of life, and the good in the midst of the bad with a baby.

But still, I'm soooo glad to have these past couple weeks over!!
