Four Generations

I was nervous about traveling with Elijah for the first time. But we wanted to do it, regardless. We just prayed and prayed he'd do well, despite his recent start on teething!

We left this past Saturday morning and returned late Monday night, and Elijah did a SUPERB job!!! We really are so amazed and grateful to have such a chill baby. So many people remarked at how great he did! Whew. :)

Part of why we wanted to travel so badly so quickly was so that we wouldn't miss the possibility of Elijah meeting his last living great grandparent. My Grandpa S is 93 years old, fighting bad dementia, and possibly an onset of some more serious health concerns. I couldn't wait for Christmas to be able to see him. You just never know how long he'll be here.

And it was definitely the right choice. We had a good time and later when mom took him back to his room, she told us he started to cry. It really meant a lot to him too. I think he and Elijah could have just hung out together for quite a while. Sadly we'd booked ourselves too tightly so we couldn't stay any longer and I think Grandpa really didn't want us to go. Even when he doesn't fully recognize us, it's good to have some company in the nursing home!

My dear cousin April was also able to be there. What a joy to have her also be able to meet Eli! She fed him, hugged him, kissed him, and enjoyed loving on him.

Isn't that just the sweetest?! These pics make my heart so happy. It was like Elijah KNEW it was a big deal. He just hung out with Grandpa like there was no place he'd rather be.

Perfect memories.
