This year, sadly, it began with a nasty flu and 80 degree weather!
So we had to make amends. As soon as I could, I decorated our house with pumpkins, brown and orange flowers/baskets, Fall centerpieces and window displays, drapes of plastic orange/brown leaves draping the bookshelves in the living room, and a floral welcome for the front door.
I'm soaking up last runs to the local farm stand or farmer's markets for fresh fruits and veggies. And of course, those amazing apple cider donuts! We stocked up yesterday on said donuts, fresh apple cider, fresh corn on the cob, freshly picked apples {since with the little one, we aren't attempting apple picking this year}, freshly popped kettle corn, freshly made caramel apples with peanuts, and fresh tomatoes. I'm loving all this fresh stuff. :)
Yum.
Pumpkin is a favorite of mine. I could add it to anything. Pumpkin pancakes at a local restaurant here are to die for. My mom & stepdad are visiting this weekend so a visit after church to said restaurant was definitely in order today, and mom & I were SO excited for our pumpkin pancakes {hers with pecans, mine without... i mean. ew. why ruin pumpkin with pecan?!?!}.
Yesterday we went to a nearby farm and pumpkin patch. Despite the damp, 80 degrees, we had a good time. We've been there before, but it was so special to have Elijah along, even though he has no idea what's going on yet.
Here are some fun pictures from the excursion:
