My dad arrived early this morning for a weekend of hanging out with us. He'd been on vacation for 3 weeks so I took today off to hang out with him.
The day ended up being reverse from what we'd originally planned, but we were just winging it and allowing the day to happen. It turned out really great! We had a nice, relaxing breakfast. Then I drove him around parts of our city he'd never seen before.
We walked around the riverfront and dam. It was really great, a bit chilly yet at 10 a.m. but it was also really gorgeous and sunny {something in the Midwest you get really thankful for after days of dreariness in the winter months!}.
We went shopping at our favorites: Cabela's & L. L. Bean.
I took him to a fancy chocolate specialty store & lounge where we relaxed and caught up on life.
Mmm...red velvet hot chocolate and a big, fancy strawberry dipped in some of the best chocolate you've ever tasted!
I showed him around our offices and introduced him to some of my dearest friends. He was really enthusiastic about it all. I love that he's so excited about my life and my friendships with my coworkers, who truly are like family to me. It was really unfortunate that it landed right at the end of the work day so we felt hurried as we didn't want to distract people from wrapping up their work for the day, but all in all, I think it went well and we had some good conversations. I get my outgoing, friendly, sarcastic, talkability from my dad so I know we could have been there much of the afternoon if we'd been there longer!
Then I introduced him to Parker and his parents--my dear friends Monica & Brian. Parker had apparently been pretty fussy so it was really neat for him to be so excited to see me and so clingy. :) I love that little guy. Sad I forgot to bring my phone in... no pics of that one!
We went out for dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen, went to Borders where I got some good books, went to R.E.I. {never been there before - sweet place!}, and swung by Bed, Bath, & Beyond where I got us a new air purifier so we can breathe better while we sleep.
We got home, caught up with my sick :( husband {his boss sent him home shortly after lunch since he wasn't feeling well}, and introduced dad to the awesomeness that is the TV Show "Blue Bloods". Now dad's asleep and I'd better head there too so I can get up early and fix him a fancy breakfast! :)
It was a great day despite now being exhausted. I think I paced pretty well and am not doing too bad physically this evening. We'll see how I feel tomorrow!
Hope you all had a great Friday!

Sounds like you had a wonderful day. Good to hear. Sounds like a day that I would have enjoyed. Be careful with the sweets; it feeds the bacteria and can keep your body from healing. Hey, I am not perfect either. I gave into my weakness of a few milk duds yesterday. OOps! In addition to the Lyme issue, I am also allergic to milk, sugar and chocolate. Not preaching, just passing on information that you may or may not already be aware of.
